Shannon Magrane, the 16-year-old daughter of former big-league pitcher and current MLB Network analyst Joe Magrane, has been chosen as one of 13 finalists on “American Idol.”

Six weeks ago during the episode in which Shannon Magrane was selected from the audition process Joe Magrane made an appearance and Steven Tyler made things awkward by comparing her to “hot, humid, and happening” weather.

So apparently on this week’s show Joe Magrane appeared again and mock-challenged Tyler to a wrestling match, to which the 64-year-old Aerosmith singer replied: “I didn’t mean it! It was a moment!”

And then Shannon sang “Go Light Your World” and got praise from Tyler, Randy Jackson (“that’s a way to come out swinging, you’ve got to a big voice”), and Jennifer Lopez (“you gave me goosies”). Or so the recap of the show that I read says, because honestly I’ve never seen a second of “American Idol.”

Not an Idol fan? I guess Aaron is more of a Glee man.

Just like Joe, she has great “pitch.”

Well, she certainly is better looking than Ozzie Smith’s son, who was on there some years back.
