Time to get a re-xray, Evan. There could easily be a cracked bone in his paw. Easy to miss on the initial xray, it shows up real well a few days after. Typical symptom? Swelling and persistent soreness that won't go a way & sharp pain with exercise. Mind you, if it is broken, what are they gonna do about it? Surgery will actually slow the healing process, unless there is a displacement of a bone piece (which you'd think they'd have seen on the initial xray). The treatment is the exact same for a bruise, usually: rest, ice, physio & time. Just takes longer to come back.
