Blanks was coming off Tommy John surgery last year. He wasn’t 100%. In 2010 the Padres tried moving him to left field to get that potential power in the line-up, 1st base wasn’t an option (A-Gon). He showed some promise. They suspended the experiment last year to save his arm after the surgery. He does not have the range or arm to play right field at Petco and I don’t think the organization is still high on him, but I hope he surprises. Probably not a bad thing, the Padres haven’t had to worry about an excess of of talent stuck in AAA in my lifetime.
