no indiciation? maybe thats because RAJ keeps hush hush about everything and then outa nowhere we trade for Doc and outa nowhere we trade for oswalt, then we sign cliff lee when everyone was sniffing around trying to find out where he was gona go. The man is a silent businessman. And if you actually did your reasearch and went down to Clearwater at the Phillies spring training you’d know there’s a buzz in the air around hamels anbd a good vibe knowing that hes going to resign there. No one on either side has to say anything until the press conference. J-roll is right thers no way the Phils are letting him go. How about you go do some more researching and journalism instead of speculating… thats all you “reporters” are now a days

It’s a story, with opinion. What Hamels wants is a crap load of money, he’d probably prefer that it come from Philly, but he doesn’t seem to care where it comes from.

There was also no indication from GM Ruben Amaro on Cliff Lee, or on Roy Halladay, or on Cliff Lee again, or on Hunter Pence. In the second coming of Lee and the Pence situations, Amaro actually said the opposite of what ended up happening. In Lee’s case, Amaro said there were no big movies coming during the off-season, and then went and traded for Pence later that year while the team apparently had “no wiggle room.”

Basically, you can’t really listen to Amaro’s words, so why listen to his silence? Like Jimmy said, this is just something that’s “fun to talk about for talk radio and stuff like that.” I guess we can put HBT into the stuff-like-that column.

I agree that the Phillies will have to pay Cole a lot of money, but I think they’ll do that. Everyone recognizes how important he is.

I think the Phillies *will* have to pay big money, but that they *will* do it, even if they risk losing Shane Victorino, someone else they’d obviously hate to see go.

Yeah but that’s kind of an invalid thing to say, no? There’s also been no indication that an offer like that *isn’t* coming.

I think its funny you mention that Dodgers and their new deep pocket owners. The Phillies already have deep pockets, and are 2 years away from signing a billion dollar+ tv deal with Comcast. I don’t know if they will sign Hamels or not, but their history of the last 8 years suggests that they will, and if they dont it wont be because they cant afford him, it will be because they choose not to spend that much on him (which is different).
