This is really short — and I apologize in advance for you having to sit through the ad that is longer than the actual video — but stuff like this cracks me up and there’s nothing else going on, so here you go.

Description: Padres infield prospect Connor Powers is gonna get some money deducted from his paycheck.

That’s pretty impressive, and if baseball had a trick shot category he would definitely make the Padres roster.

    Connor f***ing powers!

Craig, the video player that this site uses is brutal. It makes you sit through a 30 second commercial, then you get to watch the video. Then, if you want to watch the video again you have to watch the commercial again? C’mon, that’s ridiculous. Once NBCSports makes you watch the commercial you should be able to watch any of the videos that are in the playlist without having to view the ad again.

HBT is at a competetive disadvantage when it can’t just embed from YouTube like a normal blog. I suppose that’s the upshot of having an established corporate presence behind you, along with the expectation that you’ll milk an ad out of any click-related user interaction.

Impressive, but if he doesn’t make the roster, he may wish he had taken more actual batting practice than however much actual time was spent to make this.

Yeah, because professional athletes can’t have fun. Ever. Every minute of every day they are not eating or sleeping, they must practice their sport – just like I do my job along those same hours.

Additionally, I am enraged whenever I see an athlete take a vacation during the offseason. The offseason is for getting better, guys!

      C’mon, man.

Show that batted ball placement in a game, off pitchers trying to beat him, and he’ll have a roster spot. Wouldn’t be the first Padre to make a living off grounders precisely between 3B and SS, aka the 5.5 hole.

No ads on the iPhone app if that helps anyone.

Can he do that trick where he hits the ball and it goes out of the ballpark? That is a good trick the Padres could use.
