The Cardinals had plenty of time to offer him decent money. Why would anyone take on $6.5M of Blanton’s deal if they thought they only needed a 1 month fill in.

Philly will still have a hard time finding someone willing to pay $6.5M for Blanton because you can get at least 90% of his production from a AAA guy. If money didn’t matter, the Cardinals would still prefer to have Lance Lynn start than Blanton.
