I kept going away and coming back and the game just kept going on. I did see that last inning when the Giants finally got to Galen Cisco and I felt almost as drained when it was over as I’m sure the players were.

The first baseball game I went to was on April 22, 1969, my sixth birthday – and all I wanted to do was see Willie Mays play. Brought my 8mm Brownie movie camera, still have the 3:30 of grainy Mays footage. Mays went 0 for 4, no putouts in the field – didn’t care a bit.
Not the most interesting 8mm movie, however…
