Tommy Lasorda was sending out some happy birthday messages on Twitter this afternoon when this happened:

Glad to hear that the Toy Cannon is still with us.

If I remeber correctly, Tommy also said

    “I buried Paul…”

You just *know* that when McCartney does die, SOME newspaper is gonna have the headline “Paul Is Dead (No, Really This Time)” :p

        [gratuitous SNL reference follows]

And in other news, Francisco Franco is still dead.

        [end of gratuitous SNL reference]

I love Tommy. He’s everything good about baseball.

    Tommy rocks!

The Tommy Lasorda I grew up watching would have had him killed just so he wouldn’t have to write a retraction.

He also would’ve punched someone in the throat if they accused him of tweeting.

Charley Steiner just killed poor Jimmy again on the Dodgers-Angels radio broadcast. Why is he so bad?

When did Florio start reporting on baseball?

  8. aaronmoreno - Mar 12, 2012 at 8:11 PM

The app headline ends with “Tommy Lasorda killed…”

  9. sleepyirv - Mar 12, 2012 at 8:58 PM

How tough is the penalty for twitter murder? I’m guessing “12 hours of snark”

  10. Ryan - Mar 12, 2012 at 10:16 PM

some Dodgers intern really botched that tweet

All you need to know about Lasorda happened in 1983. With Garvey, Lopes and Cey gone, Fatso was asked about the Dodgers slow start and he responded:

“Ain’t my bleepin’ fault, Campanis is the bleepin’ guy!”

We heard that sound bite for ten years on Jim Healy’s radio show along with the Kingman rant and the Kurt Bevaqua quote. (“Bevaqua, who couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a bleepin’ boat!”)

Sometimes the Lasorda truth is mighty ugly.
