It was a rough day for the Royals’ young stars yesterday

Mar 13, 2012, 8:48 AM EDT

Eric Hosmer AP

Hard day in Surprise for the Royals’ promising young lads:

  • Eric Hosmer left yesterday’s game against the Giants after landing awkwardly on his right shoulder while making a diving stop at first base; and
  • Mike Moustakas left Monday’s game against the Giants after being hit in the right knee by a pitch.

They’re both probably OK and may only miss a day or two to rest their owies.

But really, we’re starting to get into that point of spring training where it’s once again apt to say stuff like “man, why do they play so many spring training games? Dudes are gettin’ hurt for no reason.”

Same reason we have alternate jersey’s, wild card playoff teams, and cities are forced to spend millions of dollars to get an All Star game.

This is why they should sign long term deal at discounted rates…NOW! AmIright?

Moose is penciled into the lineup today at DH, so it must not have been that bad. Could we just wrap these guys up in bubbletape or something?

But that 6 feet of bubble gum is for you, not them!

Gerry, Have you never been to a rock concert?

Is there a hidden meaning to that quesiton? I have been to many actually…

Listening to the Royals vs Reds today and Hosmer is DHing instead of Moustakas. Radio guys said they are just going to give him a day or two off.
