Ryan Howard’s timetable pushed back to late May, early June

Ryan Howard rehabbing Reuters

This is probably expected given his recent infection/setback/whatever Ruben Amaro wants to call it, but Jon Heyman reports that Ryan Howard‘s projected return date has been pushed back about a month. The expectation at the moment: late May or early June.

Just sayin’ now: the presence of Mayberry and Wigginton notwithstanding, I want lots of Jim Thome at first base. Because Jim Thome is awesome.

Also a Thome fan, but I’m sorry to see this for Howard and the Phillies. I hope the healing process gets better from here. Sounds like there is some reason to be pessimistic about the given timetable.

At this point in his career, lots of Thome at first base probably equals Thome joining Howard on the DL.

Phillies are the worst franchise in sports

why would you say something like that? Are you high?More wins than any ML team in the last 10 years a ws ring,6 straight east titles,Who outside of the Yankees have been that good in a decade.Sorry your team isn’t that good, but one day for your sake maybe they can be half as good or at least win a world series. So the only team you can call yours that is even remotely close to how good the Phillies have been is the Yankees.Outside of that i just believe you are 1 jealous person wishing that your team could just carry the phillies batboys Jock,or maybe you wish YOU could do it.

Are we sure this isn’t just Heyman getting his digs in at the Phillies for not investing in Prince Fielder?

If the Phillies try to use Jim Thome at 1st base he’ll end up injuring himself and miss most of the season. Not to mention what a defensive liability he’ll be. Thome will make Howard look like a gold glover in the field, by comparison.

Really tough news for Howard,I dont think the Phils will be as good as they were last year. All i hope is they find a way to produce a run or two more per game. They should still win the division, but i see the Nats and Miami starting to look good. The braves and mets are on a decline and i really dont see them as much trouble. The Phils have about 2 more years of PowerHouse, before giving way to The Nats and/or the Marlins. But hey there is an extra wild card that even when we get weaker,we still can claim.Either way its been a great run for our Phillies and i’ve seen all the good and plenty of bad in my 45 years as a season ticket holder.GO PHIGHTINS!!!!!!!!

And as much as i hate to say it,i think it might be time for Chase to think about a coaching career,or a DH player till the end.Love Utley for everything he has giving the Phils over the years, but to play in pain is not helping him nor the team.I have bad Knees from my days of playing football/and baseball and i hate the feeling i have everyday, and to still try to play on a bad knee in MLB is tough.I hope the best for him either way.But i also hope he is smart enough to know when its time to hang up the Cleats.
