that is my whole point. he can't contribute if they keep moving him back and forth from the rotation to the pen. if they want him to be a starter then he needs to go to the minors and learn how to be one and not just 1 or 2 good starts either. make him show he can go at least 5 consistantly without the wildness he exhibited when he first tried it. if the are going to keep him in the pen then I say make him the closer!what a weapon that would be coming into the 0th to shut the other team down. he would not have to worry about pacing himself just rea back at let er rip at 100 or over. but either way they decide they are just doing the developing for the redsox or the yankess where he will sign when his contract is up if he pans out at either spot.

Well, here we go again. if Chapman is not going to start this year, we may as well pack it in and watch the redbirds in the post season. After Madson, we can not afford to lose one more guy. if Arroyo doesn't come through, the Reds are down to three good starters without Chapman. Yes, if you count on Homer and Cueto, leake, Latos etal, one thinks that is good enough. But it is a long season, and they will need everyone. To give up so soon on Chapman, is not good. Lets hope he will be able to contribute.

Sure, happens all the time. Ask the Rockies how their attempt to "fix" Tyler Matzek's delivery has worked out. Dude was a stud doing it his way, Colorado tried to overhaul a deliver that worked just fine for Matzek, and the guy is a mess...he'll probably never have a ML career.

If Chapman stays up and Madson isn't pitching, Marshall will be the closer in this case, btw, not Chapman. Aroldis could use a few minors starts to work on 5th-6th inning velocity, but the Reds may not have that choice.

I'm no fan of Dusty; he only has one more year on the contract (which was mentioned on this site about a month ago), and that may be his last if this squad doesn't make the playoffs, let alone the World Series. So if he wrecks another pitcher or two, it's not like he'll care.

If Dusty was white, he would have been fired awhile ago and wouldn't be able to find a job right now I guarantee it.

has there been another team that has messed up a prized pitching prospect more than the reds have done with chapman?either send him down to the minors where he can work on being a starter or with madson now out make him and his 100 mph fastball the closer. he gets wild if has to pitch more than a inning anyway so why not just let him wing in it the 9th?
