He’s using spring training for what it was meant for. Working on things like his secondary pitches, which is what the Yankees wanted him to do. And building up his stamina/arm strength and getting use to pitching for the NY Yankees in the AL East. Which is a heck of a lot different then pitching in the AL West.

The Yankees have 6 very capable starters, which may become 7 sometime in May with the addition of Pettitte. And that’s not counting the “young arms/prospects” that have distinguished themselves this spring if they are needed to hold down the fort for a couple of weeks.

The job of any pitcher is to give his team a chance to win and Pineda is going to give the Yankees plenty of chances to win. Not only this season but for many seasons to come.
