HBT Extra: Previewing the AL West

Mar 29, 2012, 12:34 PM EDT

I continue my lack of originality, once again picking the team that won it last year. I did that in five of the six divisions.  In the last one, I picked the defending World Series champs.  I live life on the edge.

What’s wrong with picking the reigning champions?

The Rangers are a better club today than last year. No harm in picking them to win the division again.

Your predictions are in mid season form, along with your parenting skills, Craig. I can’t disagree with your summation, but I hope its the Angels winning instead.

Your Mariners logo in the 2011 standing looks a bit fishy to me.

“People forget the Rangers were one strike away from winning the World Series.”
Really? People forget that? How could people forget that? Scott Feldman and Neftali Feliz have pretty much admitted they have PTSD because of Game 6. Rangers radio announcer Eric Nadel says he’s never watched the footage and never listened to the tapes of his broadcast the Rangers provided him because it’s too painful. Anytime footage from the 2012 World Series is shown on MLB Network, it’s a race between me and my son for the remote to change the channel. And I know that even people outside the Texas market that are not as emotionally invested in the Rangers still don’t forget what’s called one of the most exciting World Series ever. I’m not trying to get too serious here, but that seemed like a weird thing to say.
