Jim Thome made a diving stop at first base and didn’t die

Really lookin’ forward to some Jim Thome at first base, guys.  Because whenever stuff like this diving stop happens, my Thome love — which has always been considerable — only grows greater.

Just can’t stop smiling. Which, I realize, will be offset when he inevitably breaks his pelvis in six places while trying to make a routine play at some point in early May, but for now it’s glorious.

Dude is looking good…fit & trim. Perhaps Howard will be trade bait upon returning.

“Hey Ryan, remember the time I was dealt to make room for you? Want to return the favor?”

The stop was nice, but the follow through on the flip to Cole was a little embarrassing.

Remember that one time he fielded a bunt barehanded 13 years ago?

    Awesome.

Do you get paid per piece you write? What a waste of time including writing
    This.

Wow. We’re all sorry Craig put you through this. Collect your entrance fee refund as you leave, Mr. Schilling.

Then why did you write this? Is trolling that much fun for you? How sad.

Do you get paid per post you write? What a waste of my time and everyone else’s on this site.

      That is all.

Apparently he stopped back, because there’s a thumbs up now—against 76 downs, mind you.

A nick well-earned from Dodger Thoughts commenters back in the Baseball Toaster days.

Yeah, He’ll be in Physical therapy tonight just like me. I have to say, Thome seems more vibrant back in the Phillies Red.

Gentleman Jim, back in the saddle.

  12. rooney24 - Mar 29, 2012 at 4:55 PM

Hope Thome does well, as he seems like a great guy. Made an awesome Paul Bunyan commercial for the Twins when in MN. Find it on the net if it is out there, as it is hilarious. But, that was more a falling stop than a diving stop. And, the fall after the on target throw was rough. Hope he stays healthy and can keep hitting.

I can’t wait for the first time Jamie Moyer is up with a guy on first against the Phillies and lays down a bunt, and the race is on. “Yes fans they are a combined 90 years old”.

    • cur68 - Mar 29, 2012 at 5:12 PM

If the guy bunting is Vizquel then its an even contest and dang near a century and half of baseball action aggregating at 1st along with some cowhide. This MUST happen.

    • cur68 - Mar 29, 2012 at 5:15 PM

Ah heck, brain fart. Mayer’s not a Philly anymore is he, dag nabbit! I took that to mean Moyer was the pitcher, Thome was his 1st baseman and the guy bunting was up for grabs. How do we work Vizquel into this? Gotta involve a mid season trade of Moyer to the Phillies where he belongs. Ok, that MUST happen.
