Most people aren’t saints…really no one, in fact. The hardest thing to do in life is to not be a complete piece of shit, and people love to conveniently forget all the bad things they’ve done and make a collection out of the good ones. I have tons of respect for people who can be honest about their shortcomings because we all have WAY more than we let on.

Look at the bright side: the thumbs-down is as innocuous as it is juvenile, since it may well be enough for the moron who used it. Otherwise, we’d have to endure actually reading a message from the same moron.

Frankly, I’d just as soon HBT dumped these stupid thumbs up/down images anyway. They’re easy to manipulate so the ratios of approval/disapproval they express are nearly meaningless, and they permit the lurking assholes who use them to avoid actually entering into the discussion with explanations of their reactions. Granted, in the cases of certain correspondents here that might be a blessing, but in the end these silly icons defeat the whole purpose of having a discussion forum in the first place.

This guy is so awesome. I read an article last year that he names his bats after weapons in literature. Last year it was “Orcrist the Goblin Cleaver” from the Hobbit and “Hrunting” from Beowulf. Awesome !!!
