Comments like this irritate me. Strong outfielder- like who? Every body acts like you can throw money around in free-agency and fix problems. Baseball doesn't work that way- every year there are one or two players in free agency that can really make an impact- and their price gets driven up and the years get driven up to where it doesn't make sense to sign them. You have to develop talent in your own system- and sign your stars before free agency. Thats why signing Cain is huge- if you don't spend the money on him there isn't anything comparable to him that the Giants will sign in FA. Sabeans a moron- he spends money in the worst ways.

Not sure if you live in the Bay Area? But I have heard for the last 10+ years about the debt service on the ball park. I was sick of hearing about if back in 2001.

It has been beaten into the fan bases head so much that many seem accepting of the perceived lack of spending of the Giants.

Rowand and Huff will be off the books next year.

I don't think you can accuse a ream with a $130 million payroll of "whining about poverty.". Unfortunately a lot of that money is tied up in Zito, Rowand, and Huff.

The danger is the Giants will conclude that large long term contracts are always unwise, when the real lesson is not to hand out large longterm contracts to players that everyone knew at the time were mediocre at best.

Will they be ABLE to keep CAIN?

CAIN they sign him long-term, after all?

Maybe with his big extention deal, he can afford to buy a very expensive top hat and CAIN.

And I bet you all want to know who my favorite Mortal Kombat character is, too.
