Being the DIE-HARD fan that I am, I went to all of one (1) game at AT&T Park during the storybook 2010 season.

It was game #160. The G-Men lost. Current contract malcontent Matt Cain got lit up by the likes of Matt Stairs and Ryan Ludwick. But GUESS WHO went yard to left in an abortive comeback attempt which saw the tying run stranded?

Happy trails, Row.

Agreed. I hope I speak for most Giants' fans, that while even though it didn't turn out the best, he does have a place in our memories catching that flyball running into the CF wall at AT&T, keeping J. Sanchez' no hitter intact. Let's just forget about the contract though.

Agree with bobulated. I think Rowand went to the worst type of ballpark he could have. He's a guy with a little pop, but at the same time not a huge batting average guy and not a speedster, so what does he bring to that big park? On the other hand you put him in Citizens Bank Park and that "pop" becomes 25 or so homeruns. Great heart though. The man ran face first into a metal fence to catch a ball. The anti-Bobby Abreu for most Phillies fans.

He was batting about .140 or so last time I checked, and the Feesh gave him opportunities to play in both the ML spring games and on the minor league fields. On the bright side, Austin Kearns is hitting very, very well and looks like he'll be going...uh...south with the team.

Chris Coghlan, the latterday Rookie of the Year whose career has imploded over multiple, albeit sometimes weird, injuries looks barely borderline (batting around .235 or so last I checked) and heading for a last shot at AAA before the Feesh weary of him as well. Naturally, this has unleashed a squirt of local articles about his "faith." Never fails, does it?

Unfortunately for the Giants they gave way too much weight to that play among others; while Rowand always played hard his metrics and actual stats never quite measured up to his reputation. SF also apparently never considered the translation of Rowand's offense to AT&T park either. Hard to feel sorry for a guy who has a $12 million golden parachute courtesy of Brian Sabean.

A gritty, hard nosed player that fans loved wherever he played...but effort/intangibles no longer make up for regressing abilities. Hard to forget him smashing his face in CF for the Phils in one of the best plays I've ever seen.
