I don't know how much I buy into the run support argument. I know its gotta be frustrating- but it seems silly to think that if your signing a 5-6 year deal that you aren't aware the line-up is going to change. Besides- with Sandoval, Posey, Belt there is at least a reason to be optimistic that help is on the way. Bottom line is that Cain's agent has established what his market value is- and the Giants need to pay it- because he only gets more expensive as a free agent. Cain has no reason to leave- ATT is a great park for a pitcher, he seems to love the city, the fan base is great- if he leaves its for one reason- the Giants are being CHEAP. Make no mistake either- if he doesn't sign by opening day he leaves via free agency. Give him what he want now- because I know the Giants and their suddenly thrifty ownership won't over-pay for the FA market come next winter.

Not sure we can keep for $100M, might require and extra $10 or so. If Cain had ever gotten any run support, he might be more willing to stay, but Los Gigantes might need to soothe some frustration with a $10M balm. And a LOT of assurances that they are trying to improve the offense, which will be all the harder when they send Belt to Fresno later this week, in favor of Huff.
Sabes better get on the stick on this one, or Cain will likely walk next year...
