Jed Lowrie probably won’t be so mad at Omar Infante for blocking second base now that he knows his thumb injury isn’t that serious.

Zachary Levine of the Houston Chronicle reports that an MRI exam revealed no ligament damage, so the original diagnosis of a sprained right thumb will stick.

Lowrie is considered day-to-day for now and hasn’t been ruled out for the season opener, calling it “about the best news I could have gotten.”

If healthy he’ll be the Opening Day shortstop.

Barmes breaks hand last day of ST last year…..

Hope Lowrie heals quick….. Our situation is bad enough…

We will suck either way, but I rather move forward at full strength to start evaluations….

I like Lowrie a lot, but he’s seriously fragile. I don’t know if he’ll ever be sturdy enough to make it through a full season unscathed.
