Complete cherry picking. Perez’s K/9 is also higher than Verlander, Felix, Greinke, Smoltz, CC, Dan Haren and more. I guess that means those guys aren’t anything special either….

But the basic argument is correct. We will know a lot more after the batters have had a few chances to see him. But for starters the K/BB looks pretty good.

Since when is ‘most experienced’ the same as ‘best’. If that experience counted for much both of them would outhit CarGo and Tulo. They don’t.

Three runs in six innings = 4.50 ERA. Strikeouts are nice, but even Oliver Perez is 8th all-time in K’s per 9 innings, and it hasn’t gotten him anywhere. He doesn’t seem like anything special at this point.

To strike the pair of them out THREE times each is pretty darn impressive Spring Training or not!

I like Darvish and think it’ll be interesting to see how his first year in the States develops. I think he’ll do good, but might walk more than people expect.
