Yeah, but I'm asking who the Yankees' 6th and 7th starters are right now. And is Pettitte's ETA May?

As to Padilla, Bobby V considered him the 6th or 7th best starter in camp. His failure to beat out Doubront and Bard doesn't mean he's useless. Aceves would be better in the bullpen in a vacuum, but if two starters go down, he'd be more valuable in the rotation. They're both fine 6/7 starters.

I'm not really concerned about Boston's pitching depth. It's much better than last year, when they had ask Lackey to pitch with a torn arm and threw Kyle Weiland out there, and all kindsa shenanigans.

The Yanks 6th and 7th starters are Phil Hughes and Freddy Garcia once Pineda and Pettitte are ready to go in May. That's better than the Red Sox' 4th starter. Not sure pitching depth is something you'd even want to discuss right now.

Ari, as for why wouldn't I consider Padilla. I best answer I could give, is since Bobby V wasn't willing to consider Padilla for one of the starting slots why would I. As for Aceves, you may recall I'm one of the people on this board that has thought Aceves should get one of the starting jobs. The problem with considering Aceves during the season if there is an injury to one of the other Sox starters then their bullpen is you'll pardon the term is screwed.

Listen we can all find examples of this pitcher or that pitcher that made the transition. But you know the flip side of that coin? We can all find examples of pitchers that did NOT make the transition successfully. I guess we all have to wait and see. Have a good day.

Why wouldn't you count Padilla, who looked excellent out there? Or Aceves?

Who are the Yankees' 6th and 7th starters? I'm asking honestly, here. Is it Banuelos and Betances if someone (else) goes down in April?

I'm also not sure why you're so hung up on innings totals. Big jumps in innings are only demonstrably an issue for very young pitchers. Do you think that relievers don't switch to starting and pitch 150+ innings? Because they do. Or that Buchholz's injury is a warning sign? It isn't; it's not an injury that recurs after surgery.

Having 0 IP in 2010 didn't stop Colon from having a very good year last year, and Hughes has a chance to do well despite averaging 89 innings over his 5 years in the majors. (Only one of which was spent in relief, and that was more IP than all but one of his SP years.)

How are you my friend? You have to believe teams are going to see an awful lot of Aceves relatively early on. The chances of either Doubront and/or Bard going more then 5 or 6 innings for the 1st month if not more are not that good considering their history or shall I say last of history with their innings. Makes you wonder if Aceves will start to wear down as the season progresses especially if they call upon him to much in the early part of the season.

Smart move,Aceves would never last as a starter, besides he's way too valuable out of the pen. I'll bet that's one guy the Yankees wish they hadn't let go.

Now the Red Sox in their starting rotation 3 pitchers that haven't pitched over 82 innings in over a year. And in the case of Doubront and Bard they haven't pitched over 80 innings since 2009.

And until Dice K comes back when and if he comes back they really have no fall back position in case of an injury. That is unless you count Padilla.
