The Marlins get escorted out by Brazilian dancers

Apr 4, 2012, 7:08 PM EDT

The Marlins are letting it all hang out tonight. Or something.

In debuting their new stadium, they had their starting lineup escorted out by dancers in Brazilian Carnival costumes prior to Wednesday’s opener. The players seemed to enjoy it. Logan Morrison, in particular, was chatting his lady up (big surprise). No wonder he wanted to be back from knee surgery by Opening Day.

Regardless of whether the product on the field meets expectations, it seems we can count on the Marlins to take tacky to a whole new level this season.

(thanks to Eric Andrews for the pic)

You said it. Tackiest thing I’ve ever seen.

      Tackiest stadium, tackiest tactics…Tackiest organization?

      • cltjump - Apr 5, 2012 at 7:23 AM

Tackiest tactics is fun to say.

Hyman Roth must be rolling over in his grave.

Brazilian dancers? That’s a lot of dancers.

    HEEEEY–YO

    I’ll be here all week

The honey moon is already over. Top of the 2nd and they are already booing.

$190+ million payroll and a new stadium and hideous unis and this team is still awful. Hahahahaha.

    • phillyhatesyou - Apr 4, 2012 at 7:56 PM

pretty sure their payroll is nowhere near $190+ mil. not sure if they even crack $70 mil

      • angrycorgi - Apr 4, 2012 at 8:07 PM

        Typo…109, not 190… It’s ALREADY WAY over 70…Early projections were 109…It’s settled down to 93 mil…

      • phillyhatesyou - Apr 4, 2012 at 8:41 PM

        gotcha that makes more sense

    • paperlions - Apr 4, 2012 at 8:03 PM

…and I’m pretty sure that 3 innings isn’t a sufficient sample size to make an accurate judgement about the quality of a baseball team.

  6. angrycorgi - Apr 4, 2012 at 7:51 PM

By the all-star break their attendance will return to its pitiful normal self.

  7. angrycorgi - Apr 4, 2012 at 8:20 PM

    4 innings, no hits…I smell a no hitter…

  8. steviep23 - Apr 4, 2012 at 8:28 PM

I’m anxious to see the thing go off in LF when the fish hit a HR.

    • angrycorgi - Apr 4, 2012 at 8:45 PM

You might have to wait a while in this stadium.

So awkward. Loria is classless. ‘When keeping it classy goes wrong’ – also how about loria making sure the announcer introduced him before he introduced ali?!

    • angrycorgi - Apr 4, 2012 at 8:47 PM

Yeah…that was really sad to watch, actually. Poor Ali is really in bad shape.

      • Old Gator - Apr 4, 2012 at 9:29 PM

He’s lucky Scrooge McLoria didn’t put a dayglo propeller beanie on his head.

Orel used the term “jap step” to refer to Hanley getting back to third (top of the sixth, second out). Tito paused and ignored it.

Was that racist? Forgive me I dunno my racist terms. That doesn’t seem appropriate to me.

    • hittfamily - Apr 4, 2012 at 9:06 PM

      Jab step

    • stlouis1baseball - Apr 5, 2012 at 12:35 PM

atworkident: Everything is racist. And don’t sweat it…you can’t possibly keep up with everything. Just know that whenever there is any doubt…just assume something is racist.
You will then be keeping up with the norms of society.

Is it considered bad luck to get blanked in your home opener?

    • angrycorgi - Apr 4, 2012 at 9:35 PM

      I guess it doesn’t matter now! ;)

      • stlouis1baseball - Apr 5, 2012 at 12:36 PM

Sould have been blanked. Blown call on the DP at 1st that would have gotten them out of the inning. Dude came around to score. No matter though…the good guys won.

You go Gator! Tackiest Tactics is fun to say!

Why didn’t you post the pic of the very feeble and frail Ali? I was shocked to see how sick he is. I’ll bet he doesn’t last until the end of the month.
Besides….Why do you show pics that are offensive to women?
