No doubt, people would rather pile on the Pirates instead of recognizing the progress being made, it’s the nature of the internet. Despite the losing streak, the Pirates remain one of baseball’s most storied franchises if you are knowledgeable about the game. The vast majority of MLB clubs would love to have the type of success the club has achieved overall. The losing streak has simply tarnished the reputation of the franchise for the time being, especially among some younger fans.

With the injuries to the pitching staff, the Bucs will likely struggle in the early part of the season. Losing 1-0 opening day to a HOF bound pitcher is nothing to be ashamed about.

Ummm, this just in….
Pirates have had 3 owners over the past 19 years of losing seasons and one of them was there for 11 of those seasons. Pathetic may be inaccurate I should have said pathetic and incompetent.
Call em as I see em.

During John Russell’s tenure, the team was routinely knocked for having no personality or passion.

Now, Clint Hurdle’s there, he’s outgoing and puts a positive spin on things, and the team is knocked for trying to build up teamwork.

*yawn*

The Bucs are a deservedly-easy target until they win. Sometimes I do wish that folks would try a little harder with their criticisms, though.

19 straight losing seasons spanning over four different ownerships. The three prior to this one had no idea what they were doing. Turning around an entire franchise from the top down isn’t an overnight process.

Pirates organization is pathetic. I don’t care how much they play the “small market” victim to have 20 losing seasons is a disgrace.
Very sad. I hope they turn it around.
