I love it.

I wish Ventura never bunts. I hate giving away outs.

the run expectancy with a man on 2nd and 0 outs is 1.170 for the 1993-2010 period. the run expectancy with a man on 3rd and 1 out is 0.989. last time I checked 0.989 was smaller than 1.170.

Reed is obviously the most talented member of the ChiSox relief staff right now, but does it really matter who the closer is?

Oh ya
Any Manager who is not willing to bunt with his #9 hitter after a lead off double should be fired immediately after the game. If he is too stupid to understand the game he has no business managing it.

Hey Sox fans what did yas think of Opening day?

Did yas like how Ron Washington was willing to bunt with no out in the 1st inning with his #2 guy after a lead off double?

And how Robin was not willing to bunt in the 3rd after his #8 hitter lead off the inning with a double?

The difference between a good manager and a common scrubby manager that will will nothing.

Seems like Ventura is trying to hard to be mysterious. What does it save you to not declare your closer ahead of time? For one game, the other team may not know who will close. But, as soon as you have that first save opportunity, the opposing team now knows and the mystery is gone. This isn't like the NFL where knowing who will start at QB might actually change your game plan. Knowing who is going to close isn't going to change the way an opposing manager sets his lineup.
