Picture of the Day: “Hey Theo — How ‘Bout A Win Already!”

Apr 8, 2012, 10:41 AM EDT

The Cubs have suffered two straight late-innings losses to the Nationals, settling in at the bottom of the NL Central standings with an 0-2 record. The struggles should come as no surprise given the lack of talent on the Northsiders’ 25-man roster and new president Theo Epstein’s implementation of a full-on rebuilding plan, but Wrigleyville bar owners were likely hoping that the team could stay afloat through … like … May.

From Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune comes the photo below of the sign this morning outside Murphy’s Bleachers, a famous watering hole across the street from Wrigley Field. “Gnats” is a nice touch.

Implying nats aren’t a playoff contender.

Guy is on the job for a few months and has a roster full of garbage to deal with and windy city fans are already on Theo?

Seems about right for this fanbase.

FYI Mr. informed, Cubs fans are the most loyal fans you’ll ever meet. Every fan base has drunk idiots like this, and most Cub fans like me think that Theo’s doing just fine. Hey, we’ve waited 103 years right? We can wait 5-7 more.

You’re disparaging Cubs fans because they want one measly win this season? Riiiiiiiight.

Also, I’ll bet Murphy’s Bleachers sells more booze when the Cubs win. So it’s not just fans being fans, it’s a business wanting to improve its bottom line. In an awesome way.

You Cubs fans wanted Theo and now you got him. His rebuilding plan means you guys wont be seeing many wins for a few years. Better get used to it. If he’s the genius you think he is it will probably be worth the wait.

damn right. i assure you that these are the dumb impatient, drunk cubs fans, which in no way represent our fan base. theo’s doing his thing and i realize we may have to suffer through seasons like this

Blow Cubs Blow! Blow Cubs Blow! Hey Chicago what do you say? Cubs are going to suck today!

    • diehardcubbiefan4life - Apr 8, 2012 at 12:20 PM

      • hotkarlsandwich - Apr 8, 2012 at 4:22 PM

Actually I’ve been a Cardinals fan all my life. The last game I went to was Game 7 of the World Series…

Its called Karma…Should of coughed up better compensation for the Sox haha. Looks like the person who helped “break the curse of the Bambino” took it with him to the Windy City. That’s unfortunate.

Theo will be just fine for the CUBS. “only 3 games into the season, this year is going to be a long one but the future is bright.
