That's why it only carried as far as it did. If he had hit it a little less hard, left some curvature, it might still be travelling.

Hey, but think about this - the All Star break home run derby with Cespedes and the Iron Giant is going to be a pisser this year, isn't it?

If you read the papers or this blog, you know that the Feesh have recently re-christened the Revolutionary Guard by Slobbering Ozzie, who apparently can't distinguish Iran from China in the 1960s, or some such thing. Maybe the change in political orientation, the revolutionary, fervor their Payaso-en-comando inculcated into them has done them some good. Like Fielding Mellish leading his troops from the canefields, they exploded out of their millennial slumber like latterday Chthulhus. After scoring one run on seven hits in their previous eighteen innings they mounted a two-digit attack and iced Latos. (Okay, sorry about that one.) The Ricky Nolasco with the halo, white robe and feathery wings showed up yesterday instead of the Ricky Nolasco with the red speedoes, horns, pointy tail and leather wings and held the Reds more or less in check while the Iron Giant rapped out a bunch of hits and drove in three runs, and Omar Infante returned to being the first class pest on the bases that he had been year before last for the dull gray suits who own the Bravos now. The Hanster poled his first dinger of the season and showed flashes of brilliance at third base (he was seen figuring ten place logarithms on his fingers).

The strange attractor had hardly enough time for the smell of weenter storage camphor to dissipate before the Feesh found themselves looking up at it, but now it shimmers in the midwestern sunlight just barely within reach. The holes the falling Feesh punched in it over the last three days have just about repaired themselves, like the metabolism flying saucer in Atomic Submarine. Could this be the day when the Rainbow Warriors return to mere mediocrity? We await with baited breath....
