Giancarlo Stanton removed from Marlins lineup with left knee soreness

Giancarlo Stanton was a last-minute scratch from the Marlins’ lineup this afternoon with what the team is calling left knee pain.

It turns out getting dressed up to look like Bruno Mars can be hazardous to your health, apparently.

For now the Marlins are saying that Stanton is day-to-day, but it’s worth noting that he also missed time with left knee soreness during spring training.

Chris Coghlan and Austin Kearns are the starting corner outfielders versus left-hander Cole Hamels and the Phillies.

Huh. Mike Stanton was much tougher than this guy, Giancarlo. Get well soon, Mike.

I prefer Mike too, but then I recall the words of that ancient sage:

      “His name is Muhammad Ali.”

It must be in the name. I picture Giancarlo being hurt a lot this season. Not Mike though.

Time for some “I Like Mike” buttons.

Mike “Iron Giant” Stanton. . . I miss him sooooo much. . .this keeps up, I ‘spect we gonna need a new nickname for Giancarlo. Anagrams of “Iron Giant” include : “Airing Not”, “Ignorant I”, “Ration Gin”, “Anti Groin”, A Tin Groin”, “Giant I Nor” etc. Taking votes now.

If he put a compression sleeve over his knee he could play.

We can rebuild him, we have the technology:
Compression Sleeve on the knee with a necklace wrapped around it and a magnetic ankle bracelet, the man will be unstoppable.
