I would be shocked to see him end up in either one.

SD has ownership issues and won't spend any money.

Seattle is already super pitching rich with 2 or 3 very high ceiling prospects expected to make the big leagues over the next couple of years. With that much cheap pitching on the way, and relatively little offense...if they are going to spend, they need to do it on a bat or two.

The Red Sox Nation is probably drooling over the prospect Greinke hitting FA and the opportunity of going after him. They might want to tell Lucchino to loosen the purse strings a bit though. He's probably going to cost more then the $5MM/1 year commitment the Sox seem willing to make for free agents.

Won't be surprised to see him end up in San Diego or Seattle. Much less pressure than the big-market teams, two beautiful cities, and pitcher-friendly parks.

While conventional wisdom says that the Cubs and Dodgers are going to have open wallets this offseason, and BOS/NYY obviously wouldn't be far behind - don't forget about Greinke's past psychological issues. I don't mean that negatively toward him, but he has previously stated that he had no desire to pitch under the microscope in NY or Boston (this was during his time with KC). He almost quit baseball in 2006 and was eventually placed on 60 day DL for his psychological issues.

He will only have an interest in going to a major market if his issues are indeed behind him.

Must be pretty far apart somewhere already. They'll talk more and hopefully something will get done. Brewers have some pretty good pitching coming up through the minors so re-signing Greinke, while preffered, is not something they need to overpay for.
