Ryan Braun out of the lineup with chest/ribcage tightness

Ryan Braun is out of the Brewers’ lineup for this afternoon’s game because of what the team is calling chest and ribcage tightness, but manager Ron Roenicke told Adam McCalvy of that they believed it’s a minor injury.

Braun has played at least 150 games in each of his four full seasons in the majors, missing 12 games last year on the way to the MVP award.

Jonathan Lucroy is also sitting out today’s game with a similar injury and Corey Hart is resting too, so Cubs starter Ryan Dempster gets a much easier matchup.

UPDATE: Brewers media relations director Mike Vassallo has an interesting note. Last time Milwaukee’s lineup was without both Braun and Prince Fielder? April 18, 2007.

Expect more injuries now that he’s off the testosterone

I hear a good oral steroid will clear that right up.

My apologies – for tightness in the chest it’s usually delivered via inhaler.

Probably just too emotionally fragile to handle the boo-birds at wrigley 3 days in a row. Poor little fella

That, or he thought he’d give the Cubs a chance to win a game against the Brewers.

The manager certainly has more information than I do, but I never understood why managers rest their best players in bunches. Fine, Braun is out today, so why give Hart a day off today? St. Louis has Beltran, Berkman and Freese all out for this game.

Maybe none of them can play, but it seems like managers like to give regulars a few ‘bench buddies’ when they do get their day of rest.

Well Braun wasnt going to get a day off but they had to because of tightness. Seeing as Hart is barely a month removed from knee surgery it only makes sense to give him a day off when playing a say game after a night game. And Lucroy woke up tight as well so Indont think its about giving buddies as much as protecting the health pf his best players in a season only 5 games old.

Braun Bashers have a long road ahead of them. Too bad as their originality stinks.
