Seeing as Hart is barely a month removed from knee surgery it only makes sense to give him a day off when playing a say game after a night game. And Lucroy woke up tight as well so Indont think its about giving buddies as much as protecting the health pf his best players in a season only 5 games old.

Fine, Braun is out today, so why give Hart a day off today? St. Louis has Beltran, Berkman and Freese all out for this game.

Maybe none of them can play, but it seems like managers like to give regulars a few ‘bench buddies’ when they do get their day of rest.
