Wait, why is it awesome that these guys are throwing a hard spherical object over 90 mph at each other when they have to know that doing so can seriously injure their opponents, perhaps even end their careers?

I have no problem with a brushback pitch to establish the inner part of the plate, but intentionally throwing at your opponent isn’t manly. In fact, by getting thrown out of the game, a pitcher retaliating hurts his team. We know the downsides of throwing at an opposing player, can anyone show me evidence that doing so pumps up a team or inspires it to play better or whatever the supposed reason is? I mean real evidence, not anecdotes from retired players or Tony La Russa.

I enjoy a good baseball brawl as much as the next person, but intentionally hitting players with pitches is borderline battery.

I love seeing the Indians teammates have each other’s backs. The same thing happened earlier in the season after Choo was hit, Masterson hit the first guy in the very next inning. When Wedge was a manager, that never happened because he “respected” the game too much.

It has NOTHING to do with if he was hit on purpose or not, who cares? It has everything to do with not taking any of that stuff anymore. The Indians aren’t anybody’s floor mats anymore.

Choo has been hit 3 times in this young season, and one was from the dude who cost him most of last season….and Cleveland are the whiners? I bet u get salty if someone cuts u off in traffic or when u get called out for screwing someones order up at your local Taco Bell. At least Gomez didn’t go for the headshot.

Choo objects because the pitcher who broke his hand last year and cost him much of the season threw at him again and somehow Cleveland is the team of whining babies? Moustakas was the one who pouted after the retaliation, as if nobody had told him that retaliation is part of the code of baseball.

I liked Gomez’ reaction. If there was any doubt that he threw at Moustakas on purpose (and there wasn’t), it was eliminated when he turned and walked off the mound almost as soon as the pitch left his hand. Barely waited for the ump to toss him.

Because of the history with shoo, the umpires were right in controlling this. Choo has been getting thrown at way to much. He should have beaten his ass.

Choo was being a little bitch. There’s no way he got hit on purpose. Same thing happened on Opening Day. Guy’s gotta learn to keep his mouth shut.

This is a good thing for both teams. Both are young and talented, but need to show that fire you see with a contender. Should be a spirited race in the central. Detroit has been anointed, and they’ll be right there all year, but teams with a lot of power/walk guys often run hot and cold. I think this could be a wide open race well into summer. Should be fun to watch.

The umpires should have let the players settle this. It seems that anymore the team that starts it always gets off light while the team that retaliates gets hosed. If the umpires didn’t know the history between Sanchez and Choo, then they are incompetent fools who shouldn’t be allowed to call games.
