From Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post comes word that Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez was scratched from Saturday’s game against Arizona after being diagnosed with strep throat.

Tyler Colvin will start in left field and bat sixth.

Gonzalez, who is batting .290/.313/.484 through his first 32 plate appearances this year, could need several days of rest to get over the illness.

He hit .295/.363/.526 with 26 home runs, 92 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 127 games last season for Colorado.

Good of Yahoo and ESPN to report it as a regular day off – nothing to see here.
