And he’s too good looking too…

I don’t understand why, but’s Ken Rosenthal decided to include this quote from an unnamed scout — an apparently bitter unnamed scout — on Matt Wieters in his latest column:

“He must be a guy people like,” the scout said. “Throw it down the middle to him with two strikes, and if he takes it, the umpires call it a ball. They give him pitches at the plate. And he gets pitches for his pitchers.”

Guess we should just add it to the list.

I wonder if the scout knows that the last thing that he said appears to be a skill and not just a result of everyone but the scout being a member of of the Matt Wieters appreciation society.

And I hope that the exec who is using the fickle nature of closers as a reason to move pitchers to the starting rotation doesn’t work for my team. Are there really people in positions of power in baseball who don’t realize that starters are more valuable than relievers?

    Roseypalms is an idiot.

Wieters responds with a 10th-inning grand slam.

Eh whatever. Pitchers just give him good pitches to hit. They throw underhand to him half the time. People must really like him…

He’s probably one of the quality judges of baseball talent used in that “Biggest Bust EVAR!!!1” article last year.

Rosenthal hates the Orioles ever since he was run out of Baltimore.

I would doubt that there ever was an “unnamed scout”. Rosey has a track record of bashing the O’s no surprise here.

Ah yes. Freedom of the press. The “unnamed source.” Seems all journalists have them nowadays, so they can make up their own “news” as they go.

It’s only been 10 games and we all know the caveats that accompany small sample size, but I really hope that Wieters is turning into the “switch hitting jesus” all of us O’s fans were counting on 3 years ago.
