Jerry Crasnick reports that the Angels and Erick Aybar are close to an agreement on a multi-year extension that could be announced as soon as tomorrow.

We don’t know the terms, but earlier this week it was reported that he was looking for five years and $50 million.  While that seems high, ask yourself how many decent young shortstops there are in baseball right now.

UPDATE: Heyman says that Aybar and the Angels are talking four years, $35 million.

But can he pitch the 7th?

I guess the Angels need a smug-looking d-bag on their team also.
