Getty Images From ESPNNewYork.com’s Andrew Marchand comes word that the Yankees have placed left fielder Brett Gardner on the 15-day disabled list due to a right elbow strain.
Cody Eppley, a right-handed reliever, was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding 25-man roster move.
It’s not clear when Gardner suffered the elbow strain or how long he is expected to be on the shelf. But it’s certainly a tough early blow to the 6-6 Bombers.
Gardner has hit .321/.424/.393 with three RBI and two stolen bases in 10 games this season. Andruw Jones will presumably get the majority of playing time in left field while the 28-year-old speedster is out.

He tweaked what I thought was his wrist, making a diving OF catch the other day.

Andruw Jones was hearing some booing last night for looking way too casual on a couple of plays late in the game.

Definitely strained it on that diving play on Tuesday night. His arm got caught at an awkward angle and he visibly grimaced on the play. He was lifted shortly thereafter.

Hope it’s not the right wrist again.
