Chris Perez got fined for a tweet

MLB’s new social media policy has claimed its first victim. At least the first one we know about: Chris Perez of the Indians.  After last weekend’s little plunking war with the Royals, the Indians pitcher tweeted thusly:

“Huge team win tonight, time for a sweep of the Royals. It’s not ‘Our Time,’ it’s TribeTime. P.S. You hit us, we hit you. Period.”

Which cost him $750.  And, as Perez himself notes in Paul Hoynes’ article about it, that’s kind of nuts because the players who were actually involved in the melee only got $500 fines, but whatever.

There go his Hall of Fame chances. The BBWAA doesn’t stand for cheaters and it sure as heck doesn’t tolerate tweeters. Watch your back Mr. Bourjos, because eventually they’re going to take their anger out on Peters. (Don’t worry Derek, I can’t imagine they would EVER turn on Jeters.)

    Okay, I’m done.
