Bill Hall to sign a minor league deal with the Orioles

Apr 23, 2012, 6:00 PM EDT

Bill Hall

Bill Hall signed a minor league deal with the Yankees in the offseason. He was totally stoked about it too:

But not so stoked that he was willing to accept a long-term minor league assignment to get it. He opted out of that deal with the Yankees at the start of the season and has just been hanging out at home since then.

Ken Rosenthal reports, however, that Hall is close to a deal with the Orioles. It’s also a minor league deal, and it’s way less likely to gethimaRING!, but it’s a job.

Ugh. I saw him in spring training when the Yankees played the O’s and he couldn’t bribe the ball into he glove.

Meh. Depth for Brian Roberts, I guess. If you want a ring Bill, you better put up some Bonds numbers and win 25 games as a converted pitcher, simultaneously, this season.

The reason Hall opted out of his Yankees contract is because Scranton’s ballpark is under renovation, so they’re gonna have to play all of their home games on the road between like six different cities. He didn’t want him and his family to have to live out of hotels until he gets called up, but he’s wiling to play at AAA.

Really, where would the Yankees put him? they have Nunez (hands of stone) as the back-up infielder.
