Jose Canseco deleted his Twitter account; but not for very long

Apr 24, 2012, 3:15 PM EST

UPDATE: He’s back on. Yawn.

***********

3:15 PM: Jose Canseco’s various ramblings on Twitter ceased being interesting to me months ago, because at some point that type of thing just gets weird and sad and … well, basically like seeing the same car accident on the side of the road you travel to work every single day.

With that said, the guy had something like 500,000 followers and his tweets were so amusing to many people that it led to speculation he might have a ghost writer. (Imagine that hypothetical person’s life for a moment. Oof.)

It’s a moot point now, because suddenly his Twitter account has been deleted, leaving only this error page in its place:

Uh oh. This can’t be good.

I’m assuming the Red Sox hired him to manage, pitch out of the bullpen, and play a little LF. No way he can be risking the smackdown from their new Twitter rules. Better safe than sorry.

He did just sign an actual baseball contract (albeit with an indie league), no?

Either way, his twitter was getting less interesting. Sean Newell at Deadspin has been doing motivational posters of his tweets and recently discontinued it because he thinks Jose (or his ghostwriter) caught on. It’s time for America to find a new imbalanced D-list celebrity with a huge ego to make us feel better about ourselves…how’s Terrell Owens doing these days?

Jose probably forgot how to spell.

He was already showing signs of that in his tweets. His grammar and spelling were poor.

I can see that it still exists. It’s now private, but it exists.

Maybe it bounced off his head into cyberspace purgatory?

    UPDATE:

According to Amy Nelson, Jose didn’t delete the account.

“@AmyKNelson: Jose Canseco’s rep just told me @JoseCanseco did not delete his account & that his rep is trying ‘to figure this out.’”

How much better might the world be if all of these solipsistic fools realized how stupid they really sounded in their minute-by-minute breathless ruminations?

Although I guess it would give the rest of us guys a lot less to talk about.

HELL YES! This was the only way that RTs of his nonsense was ever going to rid itself of displaying on my timeline

Tough day for all the haters.

“well, basically like seeing the same car accident on the side of the road you travel to work every single day.”

I’m calling shenanigans. There are no car accidents in your house.
