Any player that suspects they have a serious injury and doesn’t get a second opinion from an non-team doctor is a fool. Players should take an active role in their health and career.

Pretty much. The earlier ones were probably too cloudy to be totally conclusive.

You should see the size of the needle they use to inject the contrast. Ouch.

mri w/ contrast usually means they are looking for a tear. not good for pineda.

I’m sure somebody’s pointed it out in some other blog post or comment section, but it’s hardly surprising to hear this kind of news about a guy who threw 40 more innings last season than any other year of his pro career.

Now how about the rest of the story that his agent requested the second opinion before the MRI even took place regardless of the outcome? Makes it a bit of a different story.

If I remember correctly this MRI was a dye-contrast, so this isn’t good news that he needs a second opinion. Second opinion usually = injury.
