Dizziness, nausea keeping Coco Crisp out of A’s lineup

Last night Coco Crisp was out of the A’s lineup for the sixth time in seven games as dizziness from an inner-ear infection continues to make him nauseous.

Manager Bob Melvin admitted that Crisp may have returned too soon when he played Monday, telling Jane Lee of MLB.com that the outfielder “had some struggles as the game went along.”

Lee reports that Crisp “is expected to stay away from baseball activity until Friday.” Had he not played Monday a backdated disabled list stint would make a lot of sense, but that one appearance means he’d have to sit out another two weeks if moved to the DL.

I’ve had several ear infections in my life, never one so severe it’s caused dizziness. Are they sure it’s not Vertigo?

Middle ear infections are different than inner ear infections. Middle ear infections are what kids (or you and I, apparently) get. Hurts like hell, can’t hear anything, etc. The trademark of an inner ear infection is, just like you said, vertigo.

Considering the way they have hit are we sure it wasn’t the A ‘s lineup that caused the nausea and dizzIness?

These symptoms can only come from one thing: spending excessive amounts of time in the shadow of a demigod.

Sounds like labrynthitis. I know a few people who have had that…symptoms identical to Coco’s.
