Say what you want about WWE and Vince McMahon, but several of the wrestlers have been on tv and public appearances for the Be A Star anti bullying campaign. People scoff when WWE is mentioned, but those guys reach millions of kids a year and when that happens with a great thing like Be A Star, it kinda makes me feel good to know that there IS a multi-billion dollar corporation thats WANTS to and actually DOES give back.

Mad respect to Phil Coke as well, even if he does have a Todd Jones quality about him lol.

I think with the invetion of social media, bullying has certainly escalated. With Facebook, Twitter, etc., the bullying reaches new heights and follows you everywhere. It is a whole lot easier hiding behind a screen (computer, tablet, cellphone, etc.) picking on someone than it is to do it to their face.

Do you think bullying has escalated that much, or is it that the reactions to it are much different now.

I guess with the internet, more people get to see the pranks and bullying, so it’s more shameful to the victim. Maybe I answered my own question.

Big props to Coke, and I hate to be snarky in commenting on such an uplifting post, but . . . the quote from the article makes it seem like Holder’s task force is aimed solely at, and limited to, helping Detroit kids exposed to violence. I know these are hard times in the Motor City, but really, are the kids there exposed to that much more violence than kids elsewhere?

Good for him. I wish more celebrities used their public platform to address this issue. Bullying has always existed, but it has escalated for a number of reasons over the last several years. No decent human being wants to read about kids who resort to drastic measures to escape these types of situations.
