That could be the case also. However, Alwas probably trying to build a fire under his teammates. (Leading them to victory). I think one of the many reasons he was signed to such a contract was for his leadership ability. This is the way he plays the game. Don’t try to change him.

Johnny boy, it doesn’t matter what you think. The official score is a hit single. He was out trying to advance to second. In effect, he was trying to steal second base off the outfielder. LEARN THE GAME. It isn’t important what you THINK!

This is probably the only weakness (or another strength) of Albert’s. He tries too much sometimes. I have seen him pull this off many times against the Reds and other teams. He is an excellent base runner, even without great speed. But alas, he does get caught some of the time. I think he is pressing too much also.

I REFUSE to buy into your logic no matter how right you are. It’s his fault he’s out and he doesn’t deserve to be awarded a hit. And he wasn’t stealing.

It was close. After one viewing I think he just beat the tag but the play was close enough in this situation Iit would be hard to fault the ump whichever way he called it.

If he had been 8 for his last 21, his getting thrown out at second likely doesn’t warrant a mention.

Maybe he just doesn’t like standing around on base. He’s going to use the tactic normally only deployed against a really drunk softball team, where you just keep running until they tag you.

He safely reached first, therefore it is a hit. Think of it like trying to steal second and getting thrown out, just without the pitcher getting the ball back first.

He was trying to take advantage of Upton’s chronic laziness and may have been safe. I only saw the TB broadcast and they only showed the replay once. He also received many high-fives from teammates when he got back to the dugout so if he was “pressing” it was appreciated.
