Your semi-daily metabolites of Stanozolol report

Apr 26, 2012, 5:56 PM EDT

Minor league suspension time, people. Today’s perp walk features single-A pitchers from the Indians and White Sox:

Cleveland Indians Minor League pitcher Harold Guerrero has received a 50-game suspension after testing positive for metabolites of Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance.  Guerrero is currently on the roster of the Single-A Mahoning Valley Scrappers of the New York-Penn League.

Chicago White Sox Minor League pitcher Andre Rienzo has received a 50-game suspension after testing positive for metabolites of Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance.  Rienzo is currently on the roster of the Single-A Winston-Salem Dash of the Carolina League.

Since I started getting these minor league suspension press releases last year, I’ve noticed that a huge number of them are of pitchers. One would think that would stop people from talking about how pitchers were the big victims of the steroids era, but that would require some critical thinking, and we don’t get much of that when it comes to steroids in baseball.

Not only are a huge number of pitchers but it seems like almost everyone is from Latin America (Rienzo is Brazilian while Guerrero is Dominican). I would assume MLB would try to find out exactly why this is happening.

You can buy steroids over the counter in the DR.

      • jwbiii - Apr 26, 2012 at 7:36 PM

Just Google “steroids in the Dominican Republic”. I couldn’t post a link because links to pro-steroid sites are banned here, and I’m ok with that.

        Here’s a legitimate new story

      • schlom - Apr 26, 2012 at 7:50 PM

Well, I’m sure they aren’t the only ones taking steroids, they are the only ones getting caught. I’m curious why this is happening – whether they aren’t as good at cycling as American players, they are taking tainted supplements, or whether they simply just don’t care and are taking their chances.

We can’t post links to… what, sites that sell steroids? Didn’t realize that was something explicitly stated.

      • jwbiii - Apr 26, 2012 at 9:51 PM

I’m sure that’s not explicit, but the only posts that I had had deleted had links to commercial sites.

Pedro Gomez could tell just by looking at him.

….how’s that horse looking? Think we beat it enough yet?

    • Tim OShenko - Apr 26, 2012 at 8:00 PM

It’s been dead for a couple days, but what the hell? A few more swings won’t hurt it none.

      • ltzep75 - Apr 27, 2012 at 1:38 PM

can we replace the horse with Pedro himself?

You can buy testosterone online & I think @ GNC?

Also I know you can buy andro cream online also!

    • jwbiii - Apr 27, 2012 at 1:42 AM

Androstenedione (Mark McGwire’s favorite supplement) and androstenediol were banned in 2005. What is being sold as Andro now, androsterone, has very weak androgenic properties.

Great final paragraph, Craig. Too bad the holier-than-thou sportswriters who vote for the Hall can’t realize that. They talk about the Steroid Era like it was just hitters who were taking PEDs. If “everyone was taking them” (as they always like to point out) doesn’t that once again (in a weird little way) make it a level playing field?

Steroids should be Monitored by team Dr’s, that way u get the choice to sustain, and prolong a career of players we all love, Baseball is great, but i miss 560 FT Bombs, unless Your Cespeda, and his Physique is that of a Body Builder…

Just saying, It would stop cheaters and we could put an asterik nxt to their name if they broke records while juicing,I miss Clemons pitching 8 shutout innings, 2 days later throwing 4more S/o innings at the age of 43 then telling everyone its his training and diet that allowed him to be more dominant from 35-43 then 28-35
