I’d point and laugh at the A’s for this stupidity but for two things:

1) Inge is actually an upgrade over the guys they’ve been trotting out there, so this isn’t as stupid as it looks on its face; and

2) The Braves have both Chad Durbin and Livan Hernandez in their bullpen. And Fredi’s actually using them in close games. (At least, the games are close when Durbin/Livan comes in. Not so much once they leave.)

If when you say good veteran clubhouse influence you mean that KRInge will whine to the press whenever he doesnt start you are correct. If you mean that literally you’re wrong.

Well his defense at worst is still better than average. I’m glad the Tigers were finally able to cut the cord, but clearly he also brings a good veteran presence to a clubhouse, for what that’s worth I suppose. Strange to see him in another uniform.

This is the thinking of the A’s for the moment. They know he won’t help-and the other guys certainly haven’t helped either-but he won’t commit the host of errors the other have, either.

The A’s pitchers are doing surprisingly well as a team so far. A tighter defense will preserve this miracle for a little longer.

MLB is ALREADY paying Beane’s salary, thanks to revenue sharing

Bud won’t let Beane pay his own salary by not allowing the A’s to move to South Bay.

Signing Inge could be Beane telling Bud Lite to shove it: “if you’d let us move, we would have far better options than Brandon Inge.”

Wait, did I just declare Brandon Inge to be useful? The horror…the horror…

Is the DH limited to only hitting in place of the pitcher? For the last couple years I’d have rather seen pitchers hit instead of Babe Inge.

Unlike most of the other A’s 3B, Inge can play non-catastrophic defense. Yeah, it’s not much, but when you got nothing then anything’s an improvement.

If Billy B and his colleagues, can produce a series of statistics which can remotely indicate that Inge is not utterly crap, I think Bud and MLB should pay his salary. In the name of sheer progression.
