Brauns HR total year by year: 34 (wasn’t in the big leagues til May), 37, 32, 25, 33, 7

No. Being given an award and being what the award represents are different things. For example, the GG awards often go to players that are the best offensive player at their position and not to the best defenders. CY and MVP awards typically go to the best pitcher with the most wins (until recently) or the best player on a team that made the playoffs….not the best pitcher or most valuable player (who, by definition is the player that played the best regardless of the quality of his team mates).

Here’s the thing: they’re all on something. I suspect Victor Conte was probably right when the Braun story broke. He said a lot of guys put on testosterone patches after games to aid in recovery. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Braun did something like that because he surely wasn’t using whatever McGwire, Sosa, or Bonds was using.

Likewise, if a cortisone shot injected in a pitcher to treat arm fatigue and avoid a DL stint is fine, I don’t get the faux-moral outrage over a post game testosterone patch. Without the shot, the pitcher probably loses 5 mph on his fastball if he can pitch at all. Is that not also performance enhancing?

I guess what I’m saying is get off your high horse, many of your favorite athletes have also used PEDs.
