So wait, yesterday he thought he heard Clemens say he had used HGH, then tried to change his story, but today Pettitte doesn’t think Clemens ever used?

How do those statements square? Not that I would support prosecuting Pettitte, but that sounds at least as bad as the evasive answers that Bonds gave during his grand jury testimony.

Pettitte now says he might have misunderstood what Roger said….he stated it’s 50-50 regarding whether the conversation pertained to Roger or Roger’s wife…..case closed…waste of time and $$$.
NO conviction here.

Repeating this, because, again, people other than professional athletes have used HGH for reasons other than getting in shape to pitch every 5 days. How hard was that to understand?

Now, it’s entirely possible Clemens was throwing his wife under the bus. The guy is a first class asshole.

I love how certain some folks are of guilt.

Pettitte just testified that, sitting on the witness stand, he is only half confident that he correctly heard Clemens’ statement in ’99/’00. From TJ Quinn’s twitter feed: “Attanasio: Sitting here now, you’re 50/50 that you misunderstood him; is that fair? Pettitte: ‘I’d say that’s fair.’” Then “Attanasio: Ever think he was using HGH or steroids? Pettitte: No.”

The government has spent countless millions to TWICE try Clemens for obstruction and 100% of their case rests on a lying rapist who was fired from the NYPD because he altered evidence. Thanks George Mitchell!

Debbie Clemens was taking it to get in better shape for a husband/wives photo shoot for Sports Illustrated. But as has been mentioned above, that was years after Rocket told Andy P. that he had used HGH.

Seems like they could get this in if they simply asked Pettitte if he ever discussed this with his wife, and if so, when. It’s not proof that Clemens used, but it’s proof of when he first heard about it.

Ok so whats your point? Your comparing an actor to a professional baseball player. A baseball player who is throwing his wife under the bus so he can attempt to get away with lying for the sole purpose to stay out of jail and get elected to the HOF. Your statement really holds no relevance to the addressed quote or the topic. An actor taking HGH to bulk up for a movie has nothing to do with a pitcher who was piling numbers up to pad his stats for the HOF.

One thing I am not sure about – it came out in the hearings that Andy’s wife signed an affidavit affirming that in 1999 or 2000 Pettitte shared with her the fact that Clemens had stated he used HGH.

Is this being allowed as evidence? If its disallowed because its hearsay, that’s another reason the system is screwed up. Its contemporaneous evidence that Andy’s memory and recollection is correct, and strongly boosts Andy’s credibility.

I didn’t go to Law school but it just seems wrong if this isn’t admissible.

Interesting point. Why was the wife taking HGH and when did she do so? I doubt that she took it to aid her recovery from an injury.

Whether it works or not, you do realize that a few celebrities (music/acting) have been busted/under investigation for using HGH right? 50 Cent, Mary J Blige, and Sylvester Stallone just to name a few.

Let’s not forget that Clemens cover-up to Pettitte made no logical sense and could not explain Andy’s recollection that Clemens stated he used HGH. If Clemens’ wife used HGH in 2003 or whatever, and the conversation with Pettitte took place in 1999 or 2000, the Clemens could not have been speaking about his wife’s use.

This goes straight to Clemens’ credibility. When challenged by a friend, Clemens lied through his teeth. And this will come out to the jury.
