With 27 mill over 3 years invested in him, they better hope he turns it around sooner than later. Sometimes losing the closer role can help since it takes some of the 9th inning pressure off and brings the focus back to just pitching.

Mujica will most likely remain the setup man. He does have a tendency to float a beachball to the plate in critical situations. Me for Cishek until we see what Jennings brings to the table. On the other hand, it's critical to give Bell every opportunity to get himself straightened out. I suspect that this season is already in the tank - and I don't mean the ones behind home plate; they're for Mr. Creosote - because this team didn't do enough to address its problems with run production over the offseason. Now the most expendable players who were potential big-trade bait, Tweeter and Gaby, look terrible and won't fetch much.

I also think it's time to admit that although Larry Beinfest is certainly not down there with the Minayas and Hendrys, he dined out for some time after 2003 on a team of homegrowns he inherited largely from Dave Dombrowski. His own picks, however compromised by Scrooge McLoria's feescal policies prior to this past orfseason, have been competent but hardly the works of genius some admirers seemed to think they were.
