Perez was not merely celebrating getting Alex Rios or AJ Perzynski out, he was celebrating his team winning the game! Some players really care about winning games, and they celebrate profusely. But I am not surprised that ChiSox fans and players do not understand this; since they cheer and play respectively as if they don’t care either way.

I have long thought that pitchers in general celebrate a little too much after strikeouts and other big outs. This is why I have always been in support of hitters “pimping” home runs. Or how boating them of you will. Pitchers showboat a strikeout so y not show them up when you beat them. They would’ve done the same thing back

I would imagine that Perez won a bet with someone. The other person most likely assume Rios wouldn’t make contact.

Alex Athanopolis did the same yelling and fist pump gestures while watching Rios ground out, thankful that someone, somehwere was willing to absorb that horrible contract.

What a dumb article. How is Chris celebrating a save (the same way he celebrates after every save btw) any different than someone hitting a game winning hr and celebrating at home plate? What would you say then…the closer sucked so they shouldnt celebrate??

Look, I think closers celebrating like mad men is sort of silly, but it’s a pretty common occurrence and hitters ought to be used to it by now.
