The Astros looked AMAZING in their throwbacks tonight

May 4, 2012, 10:47 PM EST

The Colt .45 throwbacks are not accurate and not feasible for permanent use.  The Rainbow Warrior jerseys of the lates 70s and early 80s are really ugly and dated, no matter how fondly and/or ironically we recall them.

But seriously: give me one friggin’ good reason why the Astros should not go with the throwbacks they wore tonight as their full-time official uniform next year:

Those are AMAZING. They have the star-H cap logo, which is just perfect. The colors are great.  The jersey logo is admittedly a bit nostalgic/dated, but not terribly so. It’s hard to not like a shooting star.

Really, give me one good reason they shouldn’t keep these bad boys.

The stirrup socks with the star are badass!!!

Yo good catch those look dope as hell.

Because their Marketing & Branding office says no. Otherwise, you’re right.

I heard a rumor that the Astros are going back to the shooting star jersey in 2013.

Other tha the material used the Colt 45 jerseys were pretty close to original. Granted players didn’t wear pajama bottom baseball pants in the early 1960s but other than that they were damm close.
Tonight’s jerseys were pretty awesome. Kudos for getting the batting helmet right too.
There should be some law requiring players to go with either stirrups or high socks all the time.

Not only that but they hung on to beat the Cards. Sorry guys, 144 nights a year I can root for StL to win it all, since the Astros won’t. But this is not one of those nights.

And I also agree. Best home uniforms ever.

Based on the photo above, I would say the Kids size looks pretty spiffy. Do you have a photo showing an adult wearing the uniform?

    When are they throwbacks to?

      1960s

I’ve heard plenty of rumors that they are going back to them. And they’d be fools not to.

They’ve got to go with these and then make a road version. I really like them.

      Navy blue alternate?

    Rainbow, rainbow, rainbow

The star-H logo is one of the best in baseball history. I’d love to see it back, in some–likely updated–form.

    Houston’s best ever look.

Fantastic uniform. Now be smart enough to keep it.

    “pretty Fly”
Is Ebonics the official language of baseball now?
