The Mets are all using Beastie Boys as their walkup music tonight

May 4, 2012, 7:02 PM EST

This is probably the best thing the Mets have ever done:

Whoever uses B-Boy Bouillabaisse wins the night.

      • Gobias Industries - May 4, 2012 at 11:09 PM

Red Sox fans saying lovely things about the Yankees’ Mariano Rivera. Phillies fans saying lovely things about the Mets. What in the hell is going on around here? It’s Bizarro World, I tells ya!

      • shaggylocks - May 5, 2012 at 1:02 PM

Bizzaro World indeed. Better put every last penny you can spare on the Cubs going all the way this year!

  2. dawgpoundmember - May 4, 2012 at 7:41 PM

That would be a fun night at the park.

  3. mybrunoblog - May 4, 2012 at 8:12 PM

Mets are tired from traveling but no sleep till Brooklyn

  4. dawglb - May 4, 2012 at 8:30 PM

Did they do that for Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Keith Richards?

    • bleedgreen - May 4, 2012 at 9:12 PM

Are Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston or Keith Richards from NYC, and big fans of the Mets like the Beastie Boys are?

      The answer is …. NOPE!

    • Spiro Agnew - May 4, 2012 at 9:41 PM

      Isn’t Keith Richards still alive?

      • Tim OShenko - May 4, 2012 at 10:08 PM

Hard to say. He does still shamble around, though.

  5. royalsfaninfargo - May 4, 2012 at 8:32 PM

RIP MCA. Good move by the Mets.

  6. Ralph - May 4, 2012 at 8:36 PM

Awesome. And the coolest thing the Mets have done since beating the Sox in 86.

  7. ahmiller21 - May 4, 2012 at 8:37 PM

Michael Jackson (died from overdose) Whitney Houston (died from overdose) Keith Richards……don’t even have to repeat myself on that one….so yeah, big difference compared to a great who died of cancer. BTW, Keith Richards died??

  8. ravensnosncaps - May 4, 2012 at 8:44 PM

    @ahmiller

    So true!!!!!!

  9. dondada10 - May 4, 2012 at 8:57 PM

Too bad Jason Bay is out of the line-up. They could have played Sabotage.

  10. jwbiii - May 4, 2012 at 9:12 PM

metalhead is on the phone demanding the Reds play IRON MAIDEN walk up music.

  11. jgraening - May 4, 2012 at 9:30 PM

Not a Mets fan, but a classy move indeed.

  12. dawglb - May 4, 2012 at 9:43 PM

Haha. I was just joking around about MJ, WH, and the walking dead, KR. I applaud the Mets for this!

  13. indaburg - May 4, 2012 at 10:26 PM

So sad to hear of MCA’s passing. The Beasties are one of my all time favorites. I blasted them from the minivan today, toddlers in tow. Classy move, Mets.

  14. T Pot - May 4, 2012 at 10:43 PM

    Me and the Beasties…..http://iamtpot.wordpress.com/2012/05/04/adam-yauch-mca/

  15. ningenito78 - May 5, 2012 at 12:31 AM

dondada10- they need to play Sabotage when the announce the Wilpons.

  16. ningenito78 - May 5, 2012 at 12:34 AM

‘Root Down’ more appropriate for Bay.

  17. sasquash20 - May 5, 2012 at 1:26 AM

Maybe the Mets aren’t so gay after all. Wow never thought I would say that.

    • jwbiii - May 5, 2012 at 5:13 AM

But using “gay” as a derogatory term deserves a derogatory term.

  18. ermur22 - May 5, 2012 at 9:23 AM

Did they do that for Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Keith Richards?

The Beasties were huge Mets fans That’s why…..and Keith Richards isn’t dead idiot

    • giselleisasucubus - May 5, 2012 at 12:23 PM

No, because the Beastie Boys were still appreciated and didnt become carnival acts…. Michael jackson was a f&*king freakshow, and Whitney Houston and her “tragedy” made me sick. Yeah, I feel for her dying, but all the TV specials were pathetic. She was a bad mom and did way too many drugs… MJ was a freak, but he was MJ, so the media explosion made sense with him. Now, MCA had cancer. THAT is a tragedy. A 47 year old guy dying from cancer is awful, and the Beastie Boys influence is pretty clear seeing the reaction these last 24 hours….Keith Richards? Was that meant to be a joke?

  19. Reggie's Bush - May 5, 2012 at 10:13 AM

Yes Craig, classy jab at the Mets – Par for the course though…

Great job by my Mets for this.

  20. seahawksbmx - May 5, 2012 at 11:13 AM

That was awesome. I knew it was coming, but MCA’s passing yesterday really bummed me out. Great move by the Mets!

  21. giselleisasucubus - May 5, 2012 at 12:47 PM

amen seahawk. I’ve been a diehard Beastie’s fan since 1987. This sucks.

  22. stlouis1baseball - May 7, 2012 at 9:29 AM

    Wonderful gesture by the Mets.
